Design of optimal Active Queue Management controllers for HSTCP in large bandwidth-delay product networks

چکیده
Several variants of the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) have been proposed for overcoming the inefficiency of the TCP Reno when operating in high-speed networks. However, these variants by themselves cannot prevent network congestion. Congestion avoidance also relies on other mechanisms, such as Active Queue Management (AQM). This paper introduces a novel optimal AQM policy to operate in networks that adopt the High Speed TCP (HSTCP) variant as their transport protocol. The effectiveness of various optimal controllers is evaluated and the performance of the new policy is compared to that of Random Early Detection (RED) policy. Results, derived via simulation, reveal the advantages of adopting HSTCP-H2 in large bandwidth-delay product networks. 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Design of H Congestion Controller for TCP Networks Based on LMI Formulation
In this paper, a state feedback H¥ controller is proposed in order to design an active queue management (AQM) system based on congestion control algorithm for networks supporting TCP protocols. In this approach, the available link bandwidth is modeled as a time-variant disturbance. The purpose of this paper is to design a controller which is capable of achieving the queue size and can guarantee...

متن کاملRobust Queue Management over a Link with varying Capacity
Active Queue Management (AQM) is the process of signaling Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) sources from core routers with the objective of managing queue utilization and delay. AQM methods can be classified into two main classes, namely, non-control theoretic-Random Early Detection(RED) and its variants and control theoretic-Proportional (P), Proportional Integral (PI) controllers. Shortcomi...
متن کاملSPI: An Active Queue Management Algorithm for HSTCP
In this paper, a Scalable Proportional Integral (SPI) active queue management (AQM) algorithm for High Speed TCP (HSTCP) is proposed. Based on the linearization model for HSTCP, we give a stability analysis for the closed loop interconnection systems (HSTCP and SPI AQM). Then, an adaptive parameters setting method for SPI AQM is presented. Using ns2 simulation, we illustrate that SPI shows sati...
متن کاملStability and Convergence of TCP-like Congestion Controllers in a Many-Flows Regime
With the rapid growth of Internet, parameter design and analysis for large-scale networks has become a topic of active interest. Since simulation of such large scale systems is not easy, deterministic fluid models have been widely used for both qualitative understanding of the behavior, as well as parameter design for such networks. In this paper, we first study a deterministic fluid model for ...
